Sales tax due
Riverside, CA · 8.75%
Sales tax is charged on the delivery address, not the billing address, and some goods are exempt or taxed differently. See the methodology and source list.
The calculator is pre-filled at 8.750%. Because most of the Inland Empire matches that figure, this is one of the few parts of California where you rarely need to change it — Perris and Palm Springs are the exceptions.

CA SALES TAX
Riverside County's baseline is 7.750% — the 7.250% California base plus a 0.500% countywide district tax. The City of Riverside adds a further 1.000%, reaching 8.750%.
What is striking is how many neighbours landed on the same number. Corona, Moreno Valley, Temecula, Murrieta, Hemet and Norco all charge 8.750%. They got there through separately approved city measures, but the result is a metro where the rate is effectively flat.
That is the opposite of the Los Angeles or Orange County pattern, where the rate changes every few miles.
CA SALES TAX
Perris sits at 7.750% — the county baseline, with no city district tax. It is a full point below its neighbours, which makes it the cheapest sizeable city in the immediate area.
Palm Springs runs the other way at 9.250%, half a point above Riverside. For a resort city that draws a lot of visitor spending, that half point adds up over a weekend.

RATE SOURCE
Riverside's 8.750% and the county's 7.750% are both CDTFA published figures. The local uniformity is a coincidence of separate city measures rather than a countywide rate, so individual cities can still diverge at any quarterly revision. Disclaimer: Planning figures only. Perris and Palm Springs differ from the surrounding rate, so confirm the delivery city with the CDTFA before relying on the figure for a return.
