BIWEEKLY PAY EXPLAINED

Turn annual salary into a two-week paycheck

Why biweekly is not semimonthly

Biweekly payroll normally produces 26 checks per year, while semimonthly payroll produces 24. Two months in many years contain a third biweekly payday. The calculator uses 26 periods, so annual salary, deductions, and withholding are allocated consistently.

Inputs to prepare

Use annual gross salary, work state, federal filing status, 401(k) percentage, recurring pre-tax benefits, state withholding allowances, and any extra federal amount requested on Form W-4. Use a current pay stub when possible.

How to use the result

Compare estimated net pay with an offer, plan a two-week budget, or test how a retirement contribution affects cash flow. Do not use the result as a tax return forecast; withholding and final income-tax liability are related but different calculations.
